Anyone out there have any suggestions for a mechanical fuel pressure guage that reads about 20psi. I have one now that is great 0-15psi, but after installing the Carter 4600 pusher pump yesterday, at idle it goes beyond 15 and almost back to zero. Cruiisng at 65 mph it stays between 14. 5 and 15 psi. Dave Dee told me that some members are using boost guages. Just need some help since I don't think that "pegging" this guage constantly is good for it. Last thing I want is to "blow" the guage and have a leg covered in go juice.

I have been told that over 15# input is out of spec. You might want to check it out. I got a new vp44 under warrenty and if I was over 15 # cd would not of covered it.

John, I had the same question awhile back, seems that some members are using the Autometer boost gauge as a FP gauge ( 0-35 psi's I believe). Another option might be the vac/boost gauge by Autometer as that one tops out at 20 psi's positive pressure, 30 vaccum. When my first Mallory died I was readings -11 psi's at idle (vaccum, SPA gauge). There's a pic. of it on the Summit Racing site. Hope this helps !

Just another thought, Evan Beck has reported that he has seen failures in the return valve of the banjo located on the VP44, might be worth checking with those non-typical high numbers.

HP4600 or HP4601 ?

John,

Are you sure the 4600 was installed and not the 4601? I know you sent back the 4601. Any chance they got mixed up? I didn't look at the box or the part # on the pump during the install.

One more thing, a few other guys reported close to 20 with a fresh pusher install, after the pump ran for a few miles the pressure came down a little.

If you could go with a digital instead, Dakota Digital makes a 0 to 30 psi sender that sounds just like what you need. Gauge + sender less than 100 clams.
