Simple question... can someone please tell me the specifications and/or source for the fuel pressure hose "a/c recharge style" that I will need to "simply" hook up to the test port on the injection pump. I want to install a westach FP guage, so any additonal suggestions on wiring and locating the sender will be appreciated.

the hose your talking about is a refrigeration test gauge hose. . schrader valved on one end and male pipe thread on the other. . available at places like Napa or a refrigeration supply place . . even some Snap-On and Mac dealers carry them on their trucks as they sell the gauges [if they don't have them they can order them from catalog or you can go online and order]... IMHO this hose is not a permanent hose to use, just a test hose... . others are using a braided lube hose [ala a lube gun] ... it however doesn't have the schrader ends. . replaces/screwes into the threads of the schrader valve

OH.

I didn't mean to open a can of worms here... I didn't realize the a/c hose was not suitable for "permanent" installation. As to the grease gun hose, my understanding is that these are pipe thread on both ends which is incompatable with the schrader valve. I can afford a tapped banjo bolt, which is probably the route I'll go... . just thought the a/c hose route would be simpler and I wouldn't have to crack the fuel system.

Any comments on whether I need to be concerned about air in the system when I change one of these banjo bolts out appreciated... .

... . and now that I'm asking, which is the best location to access/changeout one of the banjo's? Looked to me like the one next to the schrader valve would be easy?

dflack. . not trying to sound like a know it all... just that I wouldn't use this hose [my opinion]

shouldn't cause any issue just changing out the hose as to air issue

suggest that you change a fitting at the filter or lift pump to get away from the pulses of the injection pump. . again MHO

TO each his own, and time will tell - but MY refrigeration-style hose IS permanently installed...

Those hoses are designed to function under FAR greater pressures than they will ever see on our dodges, and are also designed to remain in good condition with the lubricants (oil!) commonly circulated along with refrigerants...

Common sense might indicate a careful examination of the quality of hose that comes with a specific Shrader fitting - otherwise, if in doubt, proper hose for diesel use is easily substituted.
