2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission fuel pressure indicator light

What is the general concensus around this sight about the fuel pressure led that comes on when the pressure gets down to 5 psi? It seems as though that would be good enough to indicate whether the stock lift pump had failed or not. I already have an A pillar with two gauges in it and a little red light might look OK there. Just a thought

I have both the BD LED mounted in the A pillar with the boost, and pyro. In the ash tray I mounted a fuel pressure gauge. This set up works for me.

In addition to showing that the transfer pump has failed, the gauge may let you watch the pump fail over time. In other words, the gauge can alert you prior to the actual death of the pump.

Thanks everyone, after I posted the question, I did a search and found lots of info on the subject. I appreciate all the input but I just found out my local garage hosed me on the part. BD sells them for $55 and my "buddy" got me for $129. Not good.

McKinney, go to BD-Power.com . They have it in their price list and lots of other stuff. About the cheapest is Geno's Garage. Both use the same part # BD-1081130. I'm going to install mine this weekend. I think they will work OK. For trucks under 350 HP they will suffice. I had a half pound pressure when I suspected something was wrong and had a mechanic put his gauge on it and replaced the lift pump and everything was OK. This LED would have taken much of the mystery out of it.

i did the exact same thing my self with a LED from radio shack for about $1. 99 and a oil pressure sensor switch from NAPA for about $10. oo that has a 1/8" NPT. took about 1 hour to install and only cost $12, and works great. it also saved me from running two dead pumps!

If I had seen how simple theywere I could have done that too, All I can say is that I am jealous and kind of PO'd at the local dealer who took me to the cleaners. I should have done the research here first and saved mucho. Anyway good job on building your own.
