When i first start my truck in the morning, when it is somewhat cold out, say 20 F, my autometer elec. fuel pressure gauge will jump around for a while. It usually levels at about 14 psi after a few min. If i start driving it after a few min. it will fall back towards zero, and then jump up and down. If i dont give it hardly any fuel, then it will come back up, and then if i smash it it will stay the same for a lil bit and then drop back to 0 for a while. I am assuming my lift pump is probably taking a crap, but was also wondering if my gauge could be giving false readings. PS i just put a new fuel filter in last week. Thanks in advance!!

Get a mechanical gauge and check it. It sounds like the pump, but the sender could be doing it as well. It's really the only way to eliminate the gauge. The basis behind why I always recommend mechanical gauges.

First time it was my lift pump. Second time it acted exactly the same way so I was convinced it was the pump again until I hooked up a mechanical test gauge and found out it was the sender. The symptoms were identical!

I think i know a buddy that has a mech gauge, other wise i know someone else that works as a mech. that would probably let me borrow it. I will let you know what i find out. Thanks for the input!!!!
