Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) fuel filter

Yesterday, fuel pressure readings on my Autometer electrical 15# FP gauge dropped. At idle its 11, light throttle lowers it to 9, cruising at 2000rpm drops it to 8 and WOT drops it to 7. Replaced fuel filter two weeks ago. Truck starts and runs fine. I ordered an AirDog II last week before having pressure issues (truck has in-tank retrofit). Should I park the truck until the AirDog arrives or just baby the truck and stare at the FP gauge until the AirDog arrives? Could it be the FP gauge/sending unit? FP gauge is 4 years old.

It could be the fuel pressure gauge. When in doubt, always get a second opinion by using another fuel pressure test gauge at the VP44 inlet.

If you find the pressure is low, there's no need to stop operating the engine unless the fuel pressure drops below 5psi at WOT.

Did the pressure drop shortly after filling the tank? One tank of contaminated fuel can quickly clog up the fuel filter.

Good luck,

John L.
