My fuel pressure is fluctuating between 0 psi and about 8 psi. I've checked everything I can think of. I'm running a pusher pump and a new lift pump. I was getting about 25 psi right after installation and everything has been fine for a few months, now nothing. Both pumps are getting power and both pumps are running but I'm getting no pressure, none of the hoses are kinked and the filters are fresh. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I can't run the truck like this. Also if anyone can tell me how to reach Mr. Ted Jannetty after hours it would really help. Thank you.

I do not know what kind of guage and sender you are running...

... but you might check the connections there. The CTD vibrates quite a bit and can losen connections or prematurely wear out senders if mounted anywhere on the engine. Briar Hopper's solution is unique in that it isolates the sender from the vibrations of the engine. Oo.

Yes, the filter was replaced recently and I've checked the pressure on both the inlet and outlet side of the filter and got the same reading on both sides.

25 PSI when both pumps were new?

everything is working as it is supposed to?

both pumps are pumping fuel?

you have verified that your indications are accurate with another pressure gauge?

you could be either sucking air somewhere, or the internal relief on the VP44 (set at 14psi) has failed and is sticking wide open

I found the problem. The secondary pump is not working. The mtor is turning but the impeller isn't. The primary pump has been pushing the fuel through the scondary pump. The pri. is rated for 100 gph @ 7 psi.

Thanks for the replys.

pump failur

is the "secondary" pump still the OEM carter? if so, i find two things about this interesting: 1. the pusher can push through the OEM pump to "get you home. " 2. a pusher dsesn't keep the OEM running forever???

There is a brittle plastic coupler between the motor shaft and the pump rotor. The plastic coupler breaks allowing the pump rotor to turn free. as long as the good pump is pumping it will have enough vacuum/ pressure to rotate the dead pump head. I was going to call Carter to try and get the coupling as inspection of my pump revealed a good motor, no scoring and polished vains and stator.

It is a shame that a $. 01 part cost $160. 00 for a new pump.

Thats an execellent idea Shooter, I've got 3 pumps here all with the same problem and will be installing annew pump monday if it gets shipped in. Keep us posted if this 1 cent part is availible.

I spent more money on pumps APPs sensors and the likes than theits wouth to keep the thing running, I'm sorry I got rid of my 96-12 Valve205,000 trouble free miles.
