So my Westach fuel pressure gauge indicated no pressure the other day. It seemed to run fine. I have a mechanical oil pressure gauge hooked to the other test port & it said eveything was fine. I switched ports to see if I had a clogged filter, but I got the same reading. So I drove it like nothing was wrong, went some 1200 miles, occasionally popping the hood to take a look at the mechanical gauge. Now this morning I swear the Westach gauge started to say there was just a tiny bit of pressure & after a half hour I pulled over & it gradually started to rise. It took a couple minuted to get to 5psi but then it started going faster & faster until it read the normal 14psi. Do senders come back to life or might I have gauge problems?

Thanks,

Describe just about any gauge behavior you can imagine, and I've probably seen it as my post-filter (I run a dual combo gauge measuring both pre- and post-filter fuel pressure) Westach resistive-type sending units have failed. :(

Make sure all the grounds are clean. I had a weird issue and sanded all the contact points for my Westach Sender and things came back to life. Then about 6 months later, it acted funny again, so I sanded the contacts down and no change. New liftpump was required and all is well again. But good contacts on the Westach are very important.

you just cant beat a direct reading gage

even if it means running fuel in the cab of the truck you just need to keep an eye on it for leaks,

we have all seen direct oil pressure gages run inside of vehicles and rarely ever hear of any problems (i have ran them for years)

i have had a direct fuel pressure gage for a while now and no problems (knock on wood)

i hope its just you gage and not your L/P
