I would like to install a fuel pressure gauge in my truck. It looks like I now have two options. A while back I bought a shiny replacement fuel filter cover from Geno's. It has a spot to put the sensor. I have a FASS now, which also has a location for a sensor. Which would be the better location?

Is the sensor on the filter cover sensing pressure before or after the filter? And if the sensor goes on the FASS, at what point does it measure pressure?

Since I already have a Pricol trans temp gauge I was going to go with a Pricol electric 30 psi fuel pressure gauge. I don't plan on doing much past the Edge A2 with juice for power upgrades, will the 30 psi be sufficient?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I believe the Geno's cap measures pressure after the filter. I'm not sure about the FASS.

30psi should be plenty. Most people run 15-20 psi. (Personally, I prefer closer to 10... but that's just me).

I relocated my senser on the firewall so the sensor dosn't miss read. I ran the hose off the top of the fuel filter which is after the fuel filter.

Im waiting on my pressure gauge but would like to know something.

Wouldnt having the sender on top of the filter housing be measuring "dirty" fuel as opppsed to using a banjo bolt for "clean"fuel?

I put my banjo fitting at the bottom of the filter on the line running to the pump and havnt looked back. Works great.

I guess I could have answered my own question as far as the Geno's fuel filter cap is concerned. I went back to the web site and found "Allows pre-filter fuel pressure monitoring. ".

As for measuring dirty fuel, I would think you would need some pretty sizable particles to foul a pressure sensor. Also, since the fuel doesn't flow through the sensor, I'm not sure it would be an issue at all.

Now, in my setup, my FASS feeds into the back of the OEM filter housing. I run a 3 micron filter on the FASS so I'm not worried at all. I only left the stock filter in place as it simplified my installation at the time. Once my engine warranty is done and I do other modifications I may remove the stock filter housing and run direct to the CP3.

I'm still wondering about the FASS though. I guess all it really comes down to is pre or post filter. Just looking for a definitive answer.

Thanks for all the input.

Well, I finally got around to contacting my FASS dealer to ask about the gauge port. Here's the reply I got.

"The port marked "G" is a post FASS filter reading. If you want a pre-filter reading, you could tap into that 1/8" NPT Plug on the side of the T-Block (above the water separator) to give a pre-filter reading. Compare the 2 and you can see how dirty your filter is getting. "

So I guess if I put a gauge in the "G" port and use the Geno's filter housing cap, I'm essentially measuring the pressure drop in the hose. I'm thinking that just the "G" port on the FASS will be sufficient. Or I could get a tapped banjo bolt to measure post-OEM filter so that I can monitor pressure supplied to the CP3.

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Hey guys, would it make sense to use both a pre-filter and post-filter gauge so that one could "gauge" when to change the filter based on the difference between the two?? Would it be difficult to do? Would they be in the way during a filter change? Where would one mount the gauges on a stock truck? Where would one mount the gauges on a stock truck, but with the GDP 2 mic filter added under the intake horn. Lots of questions, so TIA!!

Mine is located in the Genos filter cap with no problems on filter changes. Gauge is located on the A piller and is very easy to read day or night.

Just as an update, the gauge and fittings are in and working great.

I used a banjo bolt off the bottom of the filter housing.

The gauge shows a solid 8# at idle, dips to 6# at WOT and settles down around 7.

This is on a totally stock 05.

Lrambo, how did you hook up to the cap to make the filter change easy? How about a 1/4 or 1/8 pipe union to the sensor? I am getting ready to add to the Geno cap before the next filter change.

Thanks, Dave Mc
