I just installed a fuel pressure gauge on my 1999 yesterday the pressure sender is in the filter housing after the filter when i start it i have 14psi normal driving i have around 10-12psi but if i stand on the throttle it will drop to 1-2psi let off and it will only come back up to around 4-5psi is my lift pump dieing or is there just maybe something i did wrong installing the gauge

When my first LP started to fail it did the same thing. Once I installed a new one it was fine for some time. I took the old one apart and the bearing in the housing had worn alowing the armature to drag. While draging it would produce low FP but as the engine vibrated it would work properly but very erratic. Since the install of my FASS no issues at all. A FASS or Airdog is a very good system. Also a friend of mine has an Airtex from Vulcan on one of his trucks and has had very good results. They sell a kit as a drop in to the original LP for about the same money.

I went through 5 lift pumps on my 02 before I installed my FASS 95 HPFP. The problem with the stock lift pumps was you never knew when they would get weak or would just plain quit. They were so unreliable. Knock on wood no problems with the FASS.

What type of fuel pressure gauge are you using? Mechanical or electric? If mechanical, are you using an isolator? I would highly suggest saving up for an aftermarket lift pump as well as the stockers are pretty much useless really.

radical fuel pressure readings

I have a new lift pump, airtex, westach electric gauge. I have 18-20 psi at idle, does real good, never goes below 10-12 psi with foot in the throttle. Shut the engine off, restart, running pressure drops below 10 psi, foot in throttle, 2-4psi. Shut her down and the next morning fuel pressure is back up to 18psi and continues high the entire time that it is runnnig. Only changes when it is shut down. Any ideas from you gurus? Thanks.
