Just installed the new "juice with attitude"- my fuel pressure is varying drastically, from 12psi down to 3psi at idle. Does my fuel pump need to be replaced? Is this typical of a fuel pump that is worn? Please help!

I just installed a Westech Fuel Pressure Gauge and with the org. Lift Pump and 46,000 on the clock I push 16 psi at idle or just driving along and with my foot in it the pressure drops to 12 and may bump 10 on a hard pull. I suspect there is something being lost in your fuel pressure system and it is probably the lift pump. Good luck.

Check you lift pump ASAP. Those cheap stockers can die in less than 3 months, it happened to me. If you can afford it look into an aftermarket fuel system.

I have a Carter pusher and lift pump with PowerByPoole's big line kit and had great pressure till my VP44 went out. It was 20 PSI @ idle and no less then 15 PSI @ WOT (Smarty #8 and Comp 5X5). The VP44 was weak for the last 30K miles so I feel it had nothing to do with the new pressure. Now after the VP44 swap my gauge jumps all over the place at idle and cruising speed (7-20 PSI). If I pump the gas the pressure jumps to a solid 20 PSI. I'm still looking for the cause but not as worried as I should be because anytime I get on it the pressure jumps back up. Hopefully this thread will help us out.

Low or varying pressure at idle or crusing. Hit the peddle and the pressure would go back up. I replaced the LP and problem went away.
