Unfortunately I had the loss of my lift pump and injection pump. Now, with the new, I have a fuel pressure gage and an showing about 7-8 psi at idle. Haven't driven it at highway speeds yet. I'm wondering what normal pressure is and at what pressure trouble might again be brewing. Thanks in advance. Oh, 2001.

Don't know if it's engine mounted or in the tank. I'm guessing it might be engine mounted. I was told the old one is no longer manufactured but that a repair kit was installed that is supposed to eliminate the problem.

I agree with Mike. If you had the dealer do the work, you probably have the in tank pump. My in tank pump has worked fine for 37K miles. I had it installed with a new injector pump at the dealer. It will pull all the way down to 3 psi under a load uphill. Scary, I know, but it is working fine. I ran it hard for the last 20K miles under warranty trying to break it (if it was going to break) before the warranty was up.

Is the fuel pressure gauge new? I just got threw chasing my tail for a few days thinking I had a fuel pressure problem when after much head scratching it turned out to be an air pocket in my fuel gauge isolator.

I had just installed a new FASS high pressure fuel pump and it wasn't reading anywhere near what it should have and I was sure it was something major. Luckily it wasn't.

I followed this procedure I found online and now it works like a charm.

Hope this helps.
