Just hooked up my fuel pressure guage and it reads a puny 4psi at idle!:eek: Just put brand new lift pump and injector pump 10,000 miles ago. I installed the probe through the banjo bolt on the bottom of the fuel filter between the filter and engine. What kind of numbers should I see here? I couldn't get the autometer probe to thread all the way into the tapped banjo bolt (from Geno's), am I losing pressure here? I've checked and can't find any leaks around the probe... Help??

Sounds like a failing Lift Pump.

1. I would eliminate the Banjo Bolts

2. I would upgrade the fuel supply system with a FASS or something better than stock.
 
Lift Pump!!! Hey, the stockers are Junk, Go Aftermarket, It will cost you about three Stock LPs from NAPA, two from Dodge. A FASS or Glacier will fix it for a long time. Moose
 
That seems low; however, was your truck engine cold or hot when you checked? I have an older truck so the numbers are different but when cold my idle fuel pressure is 5 psi and when warm it is 15 psi. Both numbers are below the pressure specifications in the factory manual. In light of previous posts regarding the dependency of the injection pump on good fuel pressure it seems a FASS, AirDog or Glacier pump system although expensive should be considered.
 
Fuel filter was the first thing I did after I installed it and it made no difference. The fuel pressure is the same when idling cold or warmed up. Would the lift pump have gone out already? It's only been in 10K:confused: The original one lasted 98K... Do the FASS systems last?
