OK, I have a Westech Fuel Pressure Gage installed. Sometimes at startup I see Erratic fuel pressure readings. A couple times the Ga appeared to try to go negative, and then after a few seconds it came back on the + side of the scale only a few psi and jumps to 10 or so and all over the place. After a few minutes of idling sometimes it settles out and goes to 10 psi. Usually with some Hwy driving it eventually works it's way over to 15psi (Pegged on my Gage), and sometimes will stay there.

I am wanting some reliability and am considering adding I believe the 7# pump. Could someone recommend a kit or which pump are most going with for an additional pump closer to the tank. I already run an Auxillary tank and the Factory tank by switching (4 port switch), so maybe adding this pump can hook in with the rest of this. The Aux, having a physically higher fuel level takes a little strain off of the lift pump, but I am seeing problems with fuel pressure on either tank. Truck has not started starving for fuel yet, but I dont want to wait until it does. It may only be my Westech Gage, but either way, a pump closer to the tank seems to be something that needs to be done, if not now, eventually.

Thanks. .

erratic at startup

My fuel press does the same thing at startup. I had to pull the gauge hose the other day to bleed the air out of the system after fuel filter change and its been doing it ever since. I think I'll try bleeding air at the sender itself. I lost my lift pump about 250 miles into a 7800 mile trip early this month. The gauge dropped to 5psi and 0 when I put my foot down. I had my new spare pump installed and it went to 16 at idle and 10 to 12 with power on. The gauge is a westtach from Genos with thier hose hooked to the schrader valve. I always have a bad time starting truck after filter change. I bleed at the schrader valve but this time the only way I could get it to start was by flooring it and she started.

If truck don't start like before, I would loosen the first injector line just a little to let air out of the system. Start your truck. You want to let fuel & air seep out. When the bubbles stop tighen the line. You may need to crack all the lines open to get all air out.
