$1. 57 per gallon in Yuma, AZ the last half month. Much the same on the way down from Oregon.

And, I always thought diesel should be cheeeeper cause it had to be refined less? Well, a buddy in the industry took me up to speed.

Out of one gallon of crude, they can get much more gas, plus extras than they can make one gallon of diesel with no extras.

Don't make much sense to me, but they can make a gallon of gas and a crapload of other stuff to sell for much more than they can sell you a gallon of diesel, even though it is much less refined.

Make any sense to you guys/girls?

You folks should consider yourself lucky. 2. 29 here in the Hawaiian Islands. Hmmm, the tradeoffs are no block heaters or parkas.

Down here in the lower Keys (Big Pine to Key West) diesel just jumped to $1. 899. Fourty miles up US1 in Islamorada or Tavinier, it's as much as 40 cents a gallon cheaper.

Filled up last night in N. Virginia for 168. 9 @ BP. On a trip to Fl after Christmas only paid 137-139 all the there and back.

This is ********. I paid 1. 69. . 99 last night. I was paying around 1. 39 when i first got my truck 5 months. with me putting in 30 gallons everytime thats a 9 dallor raise... i feel bad for the guys that use 120 gallons...

My brother stopped and put in a couple of hundred gallons in his 18 wheeler yesterday at Okla. Exit 1 on I-35 at the Indian Nation Truck Stop for $1. 369/gallon all taxes included. It's been that price since before the first of the year. :D

They are still paying the same price per gallon as you are and if they filled up 3 weeks ago they are feeling sorry for you;) .

I usually pay between 1. 7099 to 1. 8599 here in SoCal depending what side of the tracks I'm on. I'm able to fill up at 1. 6299 out in Mecca on the way out to the Salton Sea. I've been taking advantage of that since I've been out there almost every weekend and Wednesday for the past month (duck hunting)

:D

a co-worker of mine told me normal gas will be over 3 dallors a gallon this summer... . he heard it on the radio. . They are doing cut-backs in production and the supply/demand effect... i wonder what will happen to diesels... . I know the semi drives wouldnt accept anything over 2 dallors they will stop driving and everything would be shut-down.

Just returned from driving So. Cal. to N. J. and back over Christmas - N. Y. 's holidays; around 7,000 miles by the time we got home. Fuel cost was $625. 00 for the trip. Many of the chain stations, such as Flying J and Maverik, have discount cards that will save you between 1 and 2 cents per gallon at the pump. Terrible Herbst has a "frequent player" casino club card that will save you 5 cents/gallon at the pump. Use of these cards will also que the pump to give you the "cash" price, even if you use a credit card.

At the Safeway and Fred Meyer markets that have fuel stations, you can use your "club card" and save 2 cents/gal at the pump. However, even though their web-sites do list which stores sell fuel, they DO NOT list which fuel stations have diesel. Unfortunately there is no sense in calling the stores to find out; the fuel stations are automated and the clerks don't have a clue.

If you belong to AAA, they have a No-Charge VISA credit card available that will save you 5 % on all fuel purchases, AND the 5 % discount is given on the current bill -- when the bill comes in the mail for the previous month's fuel purchases, the 5% has already been deducted; you pay the balance. The customer service tel # for that card is 800-807-3068.

You can stack the discounts: use the "club card" or "frequent fueler" card for the intial discount of 1 or 2 cents per gallon (or more, depending on the retailer) and then pay with the AAA Visa fuel credit card for 5% discount off the total indicated on the pump.

Also, many of the new Wal-Mart stores have fuel stations, but I haven't found one yet with diesel, although on the trip we only looked at two.

Cheapest fuel on the trip was in eastern Arizona, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Missouri and north-eastern N. J. right at the Delaware River.
