truck idles, starts to go down the road then losses throttle response, quits every now and then, but will start back up and idle just fine, no check engine light... ... ... ... ... ... wtf???????????
You might want to check for water in your fuel. Had something similar happen with a gas engined truck once. Had enough water in the fuel filter that it filled about half the space, I could idle and move the truck slowly but as soon as I got on a hill or accelerated, the water would block the fuel and the truck would stall and sometimes die.
If you've ruled out the obvious stuff it sounds like the lift pump. Heard other guys mention the same problem. They put pressure gauge on low press. side and noticed probems with inconsistant pressure. I recently replaced my lift pump and believe it or not it made the truck run better.
Easy way to check is by cracking the drain valve on filter housing while cycling the pump. Time how long it takes to fill up a quart container and do your calculations to figure out how many gph your pump is transfering. Adding low pressure side gauge is also a very good idea to monitor your delivery press. If you want to be extra sure unplug the 2 wire plug from the pump and check with a multimeter. If you get 12v when you cycle the pump then replace the pump. I know they are expensive but replace it with a FASS pump. Its worth every penny.
