fuel pump lever

just read in my copy of the fsm that the fuel pump prime lever is supposed to be in the down position for normal operation. i had assumed the lever sould be in the up position since it seems to lock in that position. also with it in the down position i can feel the diaphram or the internal lever moving,so which would be the correct position to run the fuel pump lever in?

Mine is in the up position and runs fine are we missing something ?

IIRC there are at least 2 places in the FSM that address the lift pump lever and they contradict each other. I do believe that up is the correct stow position.

If you run the unit down a really rough road the lift pump lever will be in the half way position It does not seem to matter one way or the other.

I havent read the FSM on this subject, but common sense would dictate that the UP position is the place to run it, since you prime by pushing it down.
