Fuel pump-new question

I've read past posts on warranty coverage for failed fuel pumps and the dealer fix (good, bad or otherwise) of an in-tank pump.

Do I have to wait for the pump to fail on my '03 2500, or can I have the dealer replace it under an issued TSB? I'm going in tomorrow for the 30K service.

Welcome to the TDR! You could have the dealer check the flow on your lift pump to see if it falls below specs, but unless you are experiencing symptoms they may be reluctant to test it.

I replaced mine with a Walbro before any problems developed because I didn't want to take a chance and be stranded far from home. I sold my original lift pump to another guy who wanted it as his spare. If you decide to wait, you may want to install a fuel pressure gauge so you can monitor your original pump and watch for signs of impending doom.

The in-tank pump is evan more of a problem. Your better off replaceing it with a after market system. I have a Walbro kit from glacier diesel so does MFalkinham. . Also understand that not everyone will have a problem with there lift pump.
