Awhile ago my return line cracked and I had it brazed. Well, when they brazed it it wasn't straight and I had to cut it and put in a rubber splice with 2 hose clamps. Anyways... I now have a aeroquip line and fittings to replace it, but have a question before I get too far. There's some kind of check valve in the banjo bolt on the vp44, is that necessary? I'm assuming it keeps the fuel in the pump for easier starts, but beings as it has an electric pump will it start fine without it? Or is that the "pressure regulator" for the vp44 so when I take it off I won't have any fuel pressure because it'll all be going back to my tank? I figured somebody out there must have tried to put on a bigger return line with their bigger intake lines. How'd it work?

If it has to stay there I guess I'll just have to get another adapter and cut the line right after the banjo bolt and splice in there.

TIA

Corey

The combination overflow/bleed valve you are asking about is used to purge the injection pump of air and return excess fuel to the tank. The overflow pressure is set for about 14 PSI. If the check valve within the assembly sticks open or is removed, low engine power, hard starting, or white smoke from the exhaust may result. If the valve sticks closed, a DTC may be set causing “decreased engine performance” due to high injection pump fuel temperature. (Diagnostic Trouble Code P0168)

Hope this helps.

Well, by the sounds of that I'll have to leave it on there. Maybe I'll just get a new factory line or splice into this one after the fitting. Only problem is it cracked right at the banjo fitting and I dunno if I can trust the brazing job or not.

Thanks for the info
