:-laf  Help from the congergation, I finally decided to turn up the fuel screw oh just a little, but to my dismay there is this shield thingy that covers the whole screw one of those Henry Johnson thingys. It appears to be made of light aluminum but my attempts to pry, twist ,cut ,pull it off have failed, forgive me pastor. I was afraid. I was afraid i would break the darn screw. My brain doesn,t control my forces very well sometimes and I break things. This pump is a rebuild that was installed for the previous owner by the dodge dealer in Poway Ca. Has anyone else come across such as this and if so is there a safe way to defrock the screw?

I just grabbed on to the end with the appropriate grabby thing and wiggled/jiggled it until it came off. The end of mine was crushed flat when all was said and done (nothing near the end to worry about). It will come off surprisingly easily once you mean it.

Travis. .

Southpaw,

Travis is right. And don't worry about what it looks like when you're done, it doesn't need to go back on. It was just put there..... well, to keep people like us from turning that screw!! :-laf

fuel screw cover

Thanks for the confidence builder, I just didn,t want to put too much pressurs on that cover and break the screw off I,m sure you understand. I will get to it monday morning. Oo. Oo.

Ryan,

Unless you have a 1st Gen truck (which I don't see in your sig) you don't have it. It's on our VE pumps, on the rear, close to the engine.
