First of all, thanks to all of the guys that posted help on how to remove my truck bed. I put a new sending unit in my '01 and it went off without a hitch.
Now, the problem is with my friend's '99. His gas guage would just be pegged on full all of the time. We put a new sending unit in it and it still does the same thing. The gauge stays on full all of the time, even when the key is turned off. The gauge on my '01 goes to empty with the key off and then returns when the key is on. His gauge doesn't even move when it's turned off. I removed the panel cover and can physically move the guage to empty but as soon as the key is turned on or turned off the needle goes back to full. Does this indicate a gauge problem or is it normal for that year?
I've tried to check the wiring at the plug on the sending unit as best as I can and I'm sure that the float isn't stuck. Has anyone had this problem or know what else to try? I'm wondering if it's a guage problem or sending unit problem.
