Ok, sure the radio shack relay works, but the shut off solenoid relay is much more heavy duty.

If you compare it to a relay in a Hella or other catalog you will note it is likely a 70 amp relay.

Why tempt fate and not put the right part back in at the earliest opportunity over $45. . is anyone that broke?

I'm not and I'm poor! :)

I've never had a problem with the shutdown system on my own rigs but if I do and it costs over twenty bucks to fix a cable is going in. Permanent fix.

I have had mine using a Radio Shack relay in line as a "theft delay" device for over 140K miles. No problem so 30 amps capacity is plenty.

Fuel shut off solenoid

Napa is very correct! I have a 1995 3/4 ton cummins that had a fuel shut off solenoid short out preventing me from shutting the truck off. It also fried some wires too. I took it to the dealer and they were so happy to change it for me for $600 + labor. I guess this is the cost of buying dodges inherit electrical problems. The rest of the truck is great!:)

Relays $$$$

NAPA has the relay for $43. 00 =tx

I just paid $45. 50 at a dodge dealer plus tx for $48. 46

Part number 4607036 Relay-spec

Piers has them as well but do not know for how much.

I have some 70amp relays if anyone is interested. They have the metal mounting tab but not the plastic skirt. I always carry a spare.

lost password but i'm back

joe g... . i checked the lift sel. and it pull's strong. jb hale... I have power form all bat. connection's atleast 12"form my terminals. . Radixr I took the relay apart and it looked a little burnt so i sanded the contacts and they look (work)great!... power is everywhere but when I jump across the relay connector from hot to sel. there is nothing. . as if the wire from the connector(relay) to the selenoid is dead. . so guy's so I cut hack and splice or ???

I'll bet the wire problem is right at the connector closest to the solenoid. You could either buy both sides of the connector (don't necessarily have to be Dodge parts) and splice them in or just cut the connector out entirely and splice the wires. Keeping a connector there will simplify any future troubleshooting. Another tricky place that the wiring may fail is right where the wires enter the solenoid. Some folks have been able to splice there, others have had to replace the solenoid.

I found it!!

The wire that supply's power to the lift relay was corroded @ the terminal ... . it had power to the relay one day and then it disappered and then reappered even thought the terminals look good and clean the wire was broken... thank you all for the help!I learned how to trouble shoot the lift solenoid, the relay and terminals.
