Can you give me any further info about the year and make VW it matches up to.

I would try the 78 thru 82 (maybe more) rabbitt diesel. It used the VE pump and the solenoid looks the same as ours.

Actually I found a solenoid at home the other night... I'll try to remember to see if it has a part number stamped into it.

Did anyone ever figure out if you can get just the tip? I have talked to Cummins and a Bosch shop, and they both say that you have to buy the whole solenoid. Also I gave the guy at the Bosch dealer both part numbers listed earlier in this thread. He said the PN for our solenoid would be the same PN for the VW solenoid. Meaning if he had to replace one, or sell one to someone with a VW, they have the same PN and cost as ours. Also he looked up the part number listed for the $36 solenoid that is "supposed" to fit the VWs, it came up as a solenoid, and that was all the description given... . Can anyone clarify? This sucks.

Wonder what international shipping would cost?

I just went thru the checkout proceedure to buy one but it wouldn't give me an option for any other country to ship to.

You may have to e-mail them and see if they ship to the US.

I sent them an email after I discovered the same thing. It also said that orders under 20 pounds would not be processed. Waiting to hear back, but I have no idea what time it is in the UK. I'll report back when I hear from them. I asked for an approximate shipping cost to Kansas. Usually I'm all for keeping to the name brand stuff (ie Bosch), but when all I need is a damn rubber tip, I have a hard time shelling out $100 for it, depending on what these guys come back with I may just give them a shot. Although I am getting pretty used to that pesky shut off cable I rigged up...

The above VW part number was previoulsy posted

The numbers from the one I have (from a 1981):

0-330-001-015

"The Parts Place" A big V W catalog outfit out of Auburn Hills, Mi, (248-373-2300) advertises the solenoids as their part number SN4009 for $59. 95.

They advertise "recycled" solenoids (SN33446) for $30.

I've ordered VW parts from them in the past, they are a good outfit.

Hope this helps the cause.

So you've tried this solenoid and it positively works in the Cummins? For a 1981 Jetta Diesel?

No Not saying I've tried it. Only adding to what already has been said in this thread... that it will work.

Somebody was looking for the VW part number to buy one and try it out. I have one and posted the number along with a possible source that lists ALL the older VW solenoids for their version of the VE as the being the same.

Fuel solenoid

Hi guys, I'm new here but I've also had trouble with my solenoid on my '93. This past Friday I put #4 on mine. I bought it at my local Case/New Holland tractor dealer. Alot of farm equipment uses the 5. 9L for power. The part number on my reciept is A-77753 (Case/New Holland) and it cost me $44. 00. I'd like to think the ag part is a little heavier duty, at least it looks like it is.

I can't tell you if it's any better, it's only been 2 weeks since I put this one on and it usually takes about a month and a half to blow the tip off again, usually after towing my trailer. Only time will tell. Hope I've been of some help.

Well, being the kind of guy I am and just happen to be in possession of a mini lathe, I took . 080" off the end of the rubber, replaced the spring with one . 080" longer, and viola!! one working shut off that "should" not go bad again because it is "behind" the flow of fuel.

So, is this the "fix"? Has it acted up since?
