No start issue with 96 12v. The fuel shutoff solnoid (FSOS) is not pulling up. It can be manually pulled up & will stay. Tried 2 differant relays. Good ground at FSOS connector (black wire) Red wire shows 12v at key on position. White wire nothing even at cranking. What does the white wire do??? When cranking one of the switch side of the relays connector shows 12v. But the two load wires on the relay connector never show anything even crancking... . should I have 12v at one of large red/blue wires at the fuel shutoff relay connector.

Thanks

Check the blue wire on the positive post of the driver's side battery. It is a fusable link and may have failed. Sometimes it is loose on the battery connection.

Beat me too it! :p

I had probs with my old truck doing this, was just about to give up and buy a solenoid after grinding my relay contacts for the 2nd time. That's when one last TDR search yielded the "blue fusable link" wire, and it fell off the + post when my finger touched it!

Just got through putting a cable on mine, got rid of the selenoid, the cable cost $15. 96 total job cost about $35. 00 and my time. I had problems with my selenoid on Friday going to work and decided not to mess with the selenoid any more!!! It had given me problems before too.

The cable works great, pull it out to shut down push it in to run.

There are 2 fusible links on the driver's side battery cable through bolt. One is blue, the other orange. Check them periodically especially if you don't have Optima batteries (regular batteries emit enough acid vapors to corrode them). You can usually cut off the bad end, strip the wire for 1/4 inch, and crimp on a new end.

Had same problem My dad is an electrition for georgia power My silinoid melted and filled my hole engine cavity with smoke I poped the hood and had to disconect the battery to make it stop My dad said it melted closed any waz

he explained to me I think i can remember all it is , is a big electric magnet has two coils pick up coil and the hold coil the pick up takes more current to pick it up and open the fuel valve and once the pick up coil picks it up it shuts off and the hold coil takes over to hold the valve open but thats been two years ago can't remember much sorry not more help
