Let me tell you I just got through trying to figure why mine was doing the same thing. Turn the key over, but don't start the truck. Left up your solenoid and see if it will stay up. If it will your problem is in the relay. The relay for the fsd solenoid is located on the firewall close to the brake master cylinder. there will be two relays. A four blade and a five blade. if you think the five blade is bad switch it out with your horn relay located in you box beside your battery on the driver side of the motor. If that is not it, it is the four blade. I got mine from dodge for 44. 00 dollars and the truck fired right up. Hope this helps. Mine both tested out OK with the ohmeter, but was still bad.

I currently have the same problem. I had my wife turn the key a couple of months ago and it did not pull up the solnoid. I checked the relays, I took the top off and looked at it. It looked brand new. If it does this , I can pull up the solenoid up and it will click and stay there. There are many times if I just let off the key, stop cranking the starter and hit again it will start. Sometimes it will take 3 or 4 times. I am going to replace the solenoid next week. I can get this solenoid for 110. 00. I have checked all the wires and the grounds, and the relays. Steve Fyfe

A few months ago I posted a problem with the F. S. D. Selinoid, well since then I really have not had a problem untill yesterday. (Since the problem started awhile ago I installed an indicating lamp on the starter relay inniciating circuit to the F. S. D. Relay(Brown Wire) and an on off with a momentary contact switch to bypass the relay) Well yesterday mourning I went to start the engine and it would not start(tryed 3 times) while watching the Relay iniciating lamp, witch did light each time I tryed starting,so I turned the relay bypass momentary contact switch on and energized the selinoid the truck started right up. So I beleive it is the relay causeing the no start condition, not the selinoid.

I was lucky when mine quit. I was having a lot of problems with a "no start" for several weeks. I'd try again and again and finally it'd start. When it quit altogether I happened to be sitting in my garage at home. I put a test light to the relay and discovered it wasn't sending power to the solenoid. Obviously, the soleniod isn't gonna' work without power. #ad
Moral of the story : Check out that relay before you spring for the big bucks to replace the soleniod. Got mine from the Dodge Dealer for about $65. My 96 has 2 relays on a common bracket. Guess what, not available separately. Had to buy the assembly #ad

Anyway, fixed my problem #ad

Wrenchead.com lists a Borg Warner #R3225 fuel shut-off relay for $37. 35 (list price $61. 20). They only list one for the 1995. I am having the same problem with starting. Is this the same relay that DC sells?
