Ok guys, I send my wife, a wonderful woman, on a 500 mile (one way) trip to pick up a load of utiltiy trailers. Upon arrival, the truck looses oil pressure, so she goes to local the dealer (after calling me for advice). Turns out it is a bad sending unit, and is replaced ASAP.

2 days after she returns, the truck wont start! Open the hood and the fuel shut off Solinod has come off. I think it bolts to the "AFC?? housing, and a long bolt horizontal into the Governor housing? You know what I mean if my terms are wrong.

Also the dipstick is broke off and fell down onto the pan... .

I guess the dealer pulled the fuel shutoff sol to reach the oil pressure sender, and left the bolts loose, and broke off the dipstick.

Got a new dipstick and a long magnet, fixed that. BUT both top screws that go through the Solinoid bracket and thread into the Aluminum housing are stripped out. I still have two bolts holding on the AFC cover, and have put two slightly larger bolts into the solinoid side, but the are not going to hold... .

I have no idea what size (or how long) the long horizontal bolt is, or what to do about the two stripped out holes in the aluminum housing... .

About the only thing you can do about the stripped holes is install heli-coils. I don't know if there is enough material to do that around the holes, but you should check to see if there are heli-coils available that size. Use one of the old screws to check the required size.

The screws holding the solenoid to the bracket and the three holding the bracket to the pump governor housing are all M6 x 1. 0 thread. Helicoils are available but access to fix them on the truck is not the best. The bracket would be easy--I could send you one of them. The governor housing is hard to replace--take to the Bosch shop, meaning the pump has to be removed.

I can't understand all this hassle, because with the correct deepwell special socket it is not so hard to replace the oil pressure sender. Access can be improved by taking off the boost pipe from the intercooler to the air horn if doing it from above.
