Fuel Solenoid Boot

Has anybody out there had any luck with replacing the fuel shutoff solenoid boot? I checked the archives, and didn't find anything. I was hoping to find a way to replace the existing torn boot.

Also, if anyone has a line on the lift pump primer button cover, mine's gone.

Seems I remember that the boot isn't availible seperatly,you have to buy the whole solenoid,I very well could be wrong though. How about making one out of a bicycle innertube and some stainless tie wire?I've done this before to replace torn ball joint boots.

I remember a post or two on this subject.
Sometimes you have to put the topic in several different ways to get the search engine to find what you want.

Typed "boots" in search box came up with two threads about solenoid boots not much help. Didn't check all the threads, 48 came up when I used "search all forums and archives" and clicked on the setting to bring up any thread with "boots" in it.

If you can't find after market, try junk yard.

You are right, all or nothing. I don't think the intertube thing will work 'cause the boot holds the spring in place--plunger--. I guess with the solinoid the boot hold the trash out. Might work. I'll try that.

Preston,I got to thinking about that boot,I'll bet you can get one that will work from a motorcycle shop. Honda puts boots all over their bikes to protect cables, electrical connectors and linkages,I'll bet if you find the right parts guy he'll get you going.

Thanks for the idea on the inner tube. I had a tire from a mountain bike, but I was afraid that when the spring compressed, the tube might get caught up in the spring and not allow the plunger to retract all the way. The way the stock boot is made, it doesnt fold in. Maybe the motorcycle boot idea will work better.
