I'm trying to find the fuel solenoid relay on my 98. The picture in the service manual shows it to be on the fire wall to the left of the brake master cyl. All I see there is a large connector block with one side empty. I'm sure it's right under my nose, but I tierd of staring the the engine compartment. Thanks for the help.

Welcome to the forum. :)

The book is right. The relay is pretty big. There is a smaller one right next to it. There is a metal tab that is bolted to the firewall that there are snapped into. Easiest to remove the lag screw, then get at the tab and slip it out. The wiring harness snaps into the bottom of the relay.

On my truck, the plastic piece that the tab snaps into had broken. Fell down below and behind the fuel filter.

The big relay is only a 30amp relay, so a smaller one will work. No need to spend the $40+ at the dealer.

The big relay is a 70 amp relay. Look at the pins. The two load pins are a lot bigger than on a 30 amp. It still is only about $10, maybe less at an electronics components store. You may have to clip off a mounting tab from one but that is no big deal. A 30 amp will plug in and work, but it's life span is not all that long. Especially if you have a starting problem and crank a lot to get it going.

I found the relay just where it was shown to be. Didn't recognize it because it is barried behind the big harness shown above the relays in the picture. I don't have this problem yet, I'm just making sure where things are so I'll know what to do when it becomes a problem. Many thanks for the help.
