Got my shop manuel the other day and have been reading it a lot.

Can anyone tell me where the fuel strainer is. The manual lists changing/cleaning the fuel filter and strainer in the maitenance schedule and has many diagrams showing the filter but nothing showing the strainer. I really hope the dumb $%## did not put it in the tank on the end of the pickup tube. Does it really cause problems. If there is none I can imagine why the Lift pumps go up. There really should be something pre-filter. Maybe the strainer is in the tank and is too large to do any good. If it is in the tank and doesn't clog I would say it is too big. Any one that has dropped the tank and can help on this.

Thanks:confused:

I have to assume they are talking about the strainer in the tank. I have never heard of anyone having trouble with it unless they really got some nasty stuff in the tank. I wouldn't worry about it unless something happens that gives you a reason to be concerned.

Over on Dave Fritz site you will find one for 94-98. I don't think the 24V has it(but I could be wrong)I have never cleaned them one the ones I had prior to the 03. Son has 99 with 125000(I think)and all he has done is change fuel filter every 10000.

I try-ed to put the link to it here but something in computer land is not right so I gave up:confused:
