Hi Everyone,

It seems common knowledge that bio-diesel is (over time) destructive to the rubber components in the 1st gen fuel systems.

Does anyone sell a kit made of Viton or Teflon components to replace the vulnerable stock components, or have a list of the components that should be replaced when using bio-diesel?

Thank you.

Up until my 93 grenaded the Gutbag transmission, I ran Blue Sun Bio-Diesel B20 thru my truck with no issues. If I had to guess I have been using it for the last 50k miles or so.

The only time I have heard the need to replace parts of the fuel system is if you use 100% Bio. If you go to Blue Sun's website which I believe is www.bluesun.com They have an exact list of rubbers that react with their product.

Hope this helps

From what I have gather during the sminar I attended... it's not an issue, unless you have an early fuel system that will not withstand the low sulfer fuel now in use.

I have a 90 with the original fuel system and it's worked with the low sulfer for 308K. I'll bet you'll be fine.

Something to do with the rubber O rings vs viton-something-or-other material. The biofuel will soften the o rings, just like the current low sulfer fuel will. If a vehicle operates on lowsulfer w/out failures,it will love the biofuel. Biofuel is a solvent. be prepared to change out the fuel filter(s) more frquently for a spell, especially with 20% mix.

Thank you for the information guys. I plan to run 100% bio.

B. T. W. Greenleaf, I enjoyed your scripture quote.

Thanks again.
