Truckers Cribs on the Travel channel

Hi,

I am looking for a biocide to put in my tank to keep the bacteria out of my fuel system.

I cannot find the biocide. Does anyone know where to find the biocide and what brand name it is sold under.

Thank you, Ed2

You should be able to get it from Farm Service (FS) or whoever delivers fuel to farmers or other businesses. I can get it easy off the shelf at the CO-OP, so it shouldn't be hard to find.

If you don't have problems with algae growing in your tank, I wouldn't worry about it. I don't know what state you are in, so I'm not sure if it is even a problem down South or not if you are there.

If you have to run a biocide make sure you also add a lubricity additive depending on which pump you have. I had a bad load of fuel and had to run biocide in mine for a few tanks. The injection shop that diagnosed the problem with me told me to run the biocide and to run a double dose of Stanadyne while I was running the biocide. If you have a farm & fleet or anything like that in your area they'll have it.

I'm also moving this to the General Diesel forum where it will get better exposure.

I got Siloo Bio-Con at the local JD dealer for $4 a bottle. One bottle treats 50 gallons. The service dept manager said he's seen ALOT of equipment coming in with algae related problems. Since he's been recommending the bio-con, the guys using it have not had the reoccuring problems.

I'm not sure if it's the fuel around here, or if the heavy equipment fuel is stored in tanks on pickups for too long or they're not using filters, or what... But I run a bottle through every few tanks just to be safe.
