I've spent a lot of time putting this together lately. I am still waiting for a few odds and ends but I will be putting it into action in a few weeks.

Overall it may have been a complete waste of time considering it cost me nearly as much as a FASS. I don't know what the FASS includes though(?).

It replaces the entire fuel system from the fittings on the VP44 back to the fuel tank fitting.

Thoughts?

While the FASS may be a great pump and filter, it doesn't address the remainder of the system - lines and tank as does your proposal. I like the detail on your web page, leads me to believe that you'll have a well thought out, quality system. Please keep us posted.

Looks good. How long do you think your fuel filter will be good for? At 138 a pop, you wouldnt want to change it too often.

Let us know how it all works.

Woops. $138 is for the assembly which comes with 1 fuel filter. There is really not much to it. It's a head/screw on mount with the ports and the fuel bowl with the drain. The fuel filters are $30. I'll update that to make it more clear on the page when I get a chance. Not sure exactly how long they'll last.

I like it great ingenuity you just need to get setup for wholesale on parts and start putting together your own systems it is the very complete fass retails I believe at 589. 00

I hate to rain on your parade but the HP4601 is not that great of a pump. I ran one back by the tank and it could just manage 10 psi at cruise and when I put the hammer to it would drop to 5 or less psi. Now I was not drawing fuel from a bulkhead fitting in the bottom of my tank, but I was drawing it through the stock pickup with -6an lines. The pump was back by the tank and I have -6 an lines all the way to the VP44.

Other than the pump the setup looks great.

I mentioned that the carter is a piece of junk.

I'm going to use a carter at first to compare it to the stock setup.

I have a stock truck and I see 14 PSI / 8PSI at wot. I want to see what I get with the carter using my setup...

After that I will probably end up with a Holley black or Holley blue. What did you end up switching to?

Your last bullet is the magic one

Fixing the tank module restriction will do more to "fix" the problem than any other mod you can imagine. I am a true believer in this :D

Female barbs are readily available but I can't seem to find single barb fittings in the female variety. Single barb seems to be the fuel system standard so that is what I'm going for. May be something that can be cut out to save a few bucks.

I guess I need to read more on your website, I just saw the pic and part number and decided to tell you about my experince.

Right now I am running a stock lift pump back by the tank. The only reason I tried 4601 is that its about half the price of the stock pump. I actually bought the 4601 about 3 years ago when one of the memebers on here found it and was running it. His failed after I got it so I never installed it. It had been sitting around my shop for a while and I just wanted to give it a try. One of these days I am going to go for a RASP or the new FASS (stand alone pump only) set up. I am also thinking of a bed mounted tank for my primary fuel supply, that way whatever pump I use would be force fed fuel from above.

btw jr didn't mean to come across harsh just wanted to let you know i knew it was a piece of junk :-laf

Seems like EVERYONE who has a 4601 has them fail very soon... Makes you wonder. What really si the difference between the 4601HP and the stock lift pump though? They look and feel the same.
