About 6 weeks ago I had the dealer put one of the new LP's in my tank. Since then I can get 75-100 miles more per tank than I used to. That's towing at 10. x mpg. I called the dealer to ask them if they changed the vents or anything and they didn't. Mileage has not gone up... nuts.

My gauge moves slower, meaning it's more than just the LP picking up more fuel from the bottom of the tank, the gauge sender is working differently. I used to be at 115mi. when the gauge hit 3/4, now I'm around 140+. I used to get nervous when the trip odo. showed 300mi, now I go 350 and still have 1/4 left. I don't think my gauge has the fudge factor that it used to.

I fill up at home and my tank/barrel is set so they the truck is tilted back and to the right, which really makes getting the tank FULL easy. I'd love to get Spooled-up's mod, but I don't think it would help me that much.

Anybody else with the new LP notice any differences.

P. S. I went 440 miles on one tank. Was a ways from home so I put 15gal in. Drove the 60+ miles home and put 33. x in. 500 miles and 48+ gal. At about 11 mpg (empty trailer) it took ~6 gals. to get home. So subtracting those 6 gals and 60miles, I could have put in 42 gals had I filled up at home.

I think You are getting better MPG.

I am in the middle of this same thing right now, My lift pump is week and i had a dirty fuel filter so it was having a hard time keeping fuel to the CP3 all the time. I was getting 8-10 mpg I changed the filter, I still have a week pump (I know this cause i have a gauge and im watching it) It will drop to 0 PSI if i run it hard. But all other times it will hold 5-7 PSI And like some mericle Im getting better MPG now I got 248. 3 out of 3/4 + of a tank last week and now on this tank Im at 118 miles on the first 1/4 the over head says 15 will see when i refill.

I just had my LP changed about two weeks ago.

my truck is my daily driver; so I see about 17 mpg in city and 20~23 on hwy depending on how fast I drive. before I could go about 550 miles on 31~32 gallons of fuel (I usually get fuel when the low fuel light first turns on)

now I am still on my first fill up after the repair but i was able to put about 34. 5 gallons in this time and the overhead computer is showing a DTE of 640 miles..... it never showed over 550 before..... I find my DTE to be pretty accurate most of the time unless i've really been hammering on it... . I always reset mpg, trip time etc. at every fill up.....

I was wondering if they put a 35 gallon tank from a long bed truck on my short bed truck since I discovered I could put more fuel in my truck now... . lastly I bought one of the first 04 trucks..... mfg in early oct of 03..... I need to crawl under the truck and check the date/time stamp on the tank to see if it is newer... . thats how I will be able to tell if they changed tank out..... I also know they removed the bed of the truck to change the LP... . so they could have just changed out tanks as easily..... does anyone have any pictures of an 05 tank/LP or specs of the new LP? I know the old one was made by carter... . not sure about the new one.....

WOW!!!! Was this a 5 STAR dealer or some schmuck off the street?? Unless I'm really missing something, that was a gigantic waste of time.

Nope. I fuel up 3-4 times a week and check it everytime. Mileage is unchanged.

It was a 5 star dealer. they said it was easier to remove the bed then drop the tank. the reason I found out is because I asked them what would happen to the 10~12 gallons of fuel if they needed to drop the tank..... thats when they told me they would remove the bed to conduct the repair.

I pulled my bed when I was having fuel pressure problems. Six bolts and two electrical connections, gooseneck ball, roll in the engine hoist and it was off. That was a lot easier by myself to do than wrestle a half full, odd shaped tank that really doen't have a good flat spot for a jack.

I guess I'm the only one that makes sure the tank is as close to "E" as it can be before it needs to be worked on. ;) Maybe "gigantic" was a bit much.
