As I was laying under my truck last night routing wires, I was struck by the relative emptiness on the passenger side of the driveshaft, opposite the factory tank.

Knowing that there are few TRULY new things in this world, I feel obliged to ask... . have any of you swapped in a stock tank in this space? There's plenty of room back where the spare tire used to go, as well.

I know that Transfer Flow has some very nice tanks (their electronic controls are second to none, but they are quite proud of them!), but I'm wondering if anyone has explore the budget end of the spectrum...

Doesn't the exhaust pipe routing effectively prohibit any kind of tankage on the passenger side, inboard of the frame rail?

www.aerotanks.com

makes a replacement tank for our trucks that holds 60gallons,

it has a part that goes over the driveline in front of the rear axle, I believe they make an add on that will go where the spare is also.

Was going to order one but did search on aerotanks on the board and the posts weren't to positive about the quality and they are pretty expensive.

Someone,(if I remember right it was Rdusch) posted in the first gen forum about a surplus place that had a tank real cheap that he was going to modify to go where his spare used to be.

Hope this info helps,

Caleb

The other tank that was talked about being surplus was from a Chevy Blazer. The frame difference isn't that much between our trucks and a Blazer. This tamk is made for behind the axle. If you didn't want to play with the exhaust. This might be the better swap in.

Has anyone actually mounted one of these Blazer tanks? Looks like it might work.

I'm gettin' tired of waiting on someone to make an aft-axle tank for my "*******, red-headed-step child, unpopular, no one has one, small percentage of truck sales", short bed.

Chris

Oh, thank you.

I was thinking the same thing. But I'm going to run stacks so the exhaust will be under the way. Another 30 gallons would be a nice addition.
