Fuel Tank Leak?

I TOPPED OFF MY FUEL TANK (TO THE BRIM) AND PARKED TRUCK ON MY SLOPED DRIVEWAY CAME BACK A DAY LATER HUGE PUDDLE OF DIESEL UNDER MY TRUCK! IS THIS NORMAL? SHOULD IT LEAK AT ALL? FUEL SEEMS TO COME FROM LARGE WHITE LID ON TOP OF TANK WHERE SENDING UNIT IS LOCATED. CAN YOU HELP WITH SOME ANSWERS ,THANKS !

The white "lid" you are looking at is the hold down nut for the sending unit assembly. Try tightening it. If that doesn't work you will have to replace the large square shaped O ring type gasket.

My first CTD did that and the white ring was not tightened down from when someone replaced the sending unit. I not knowing any better about how it was installed, took a piece of 2x4 about 3 ft long and slide it up in there and used it as a pry bar and "snap" it clicked back in place and never leaked again. Now I understand they unscrew. Oh well it worked for me and beat pulling the bed to get at it.

Just to tighten the ring the bed isn't in the way. A large pair of Channel-Locs or a strap wrench works well.
