Is there pump in Tank Module?

Ok you CTD/Dodge guru's. For those who have changed out/repaires fuel sending unit, or those in the know.

I'm trying to confirm either way.

Is there any model ram/diesel with electric fuel pump in the fuel tank module?

Service manual states no.

I have never heard of or read of there being one in module.

Guy swears that Dodge/dealer-parts told him there was fuel pump in module. Sold him tank module for 300 plus bucks. He said it was fuel pump /fuel tank module for Diesel.

Could this be price for fuel tank module with out pump.

Bad tank of fuel put into dodge lots of water in fuel.

Replaced filter(second time) and lift/transfer pump would not start. Decided there was fuel pump in tank went to dodge they confirmed. 97 3500 CTD.

So has any one run into electric fuel pump in the fuel tank module?

A young parts guy at Napa told me the same thing about having a fuel pump in the tank. I repaired my sending unit, and had no pump in there. I'm guessing they're talking about gas engine trucks, but don't know for sure?????

Yes, the gas engines have fuel pump inside there fuel tank module.

I also should of asked could dealer sold them a fuel tank module with a fuel pump in it?

The gas truck use the same fuel tank including sending unit (fuel pickup and gauge sending unit) they are interchangeable except the gas has a electric pump at the bottom of the fuel pickup which the diesal does not.

Bill,

Right, as per service manual in several chapters CTD has no fuel pump in tank. Also in many post I have read there was no mention of one.

Apparently all models(1500,2500, 3500) use same wiring harness and connector(to fuel tank module) except there is not supposed to be pump in tank with diesel.

Dodge partsman told this guy that the diesel's have a pump in tank that puts out 7 to 8 lbs. He sold them fuel tank module with pump in it to go in their diesel truck (97 3500 CTD).

I don't trust partsmen. I think his tank filter was dirty and slimed like fuel filter.

If there is pump in his tank module he got shafted and if there isn't one he still got shafted. He paid way to much for a fuel tank module (empty one).

The service manual isn't right all the time ( but is most of time) .

so I'm trying to confirm(as in doubting Thomas, those that have seen with there own eyes) from those that have changed out or repaired fuel sending unit if they had pump in there too. Confirming book is right and partsman and/or owner of truck don't know what they are talking about. Thanks
