4-pin wiring problem

I have a 110 Gal fuel tank, the square type used by farmers to haul fuel to the field. It has a seep on a corner. this is a welded joint. Can it be welded safely? I don't want to blow my head off!

The way i have welded tanks before is one of two ways, fill the tank full of water after removing it from the truck so there are no fumes to ignite or get the tank steam cleaned then to test it i toss a match into it but that always scares the heck out of everyone for some reason...

I thought about the water but since I do not want any water in the fuel. How would I get the water out?

you could purge it with nitrogen or co2. or if you got big ones, top it right to the cap with fuel, and weld away [on a nice windy day] both ways work...

I would clean the area around the leak and use the epoxy type fuel tank sealer. I have had great luck with it.
