Fuel tank vent

Thanks guys. I appreciate the kind words. For anyone considering the vent kit install, it's not as lengthy as the instructions would make you think. There's a lot of detail in there because of all the tips and suggestions from TDR members. I did my '07 in about two hours taking my time. The newer trucks are easier to do simply because of the location of the fuel lines. Dodge switched to the newer in-tank-module in mid '04 I believe and spaced the fuel line connections out so you could actually remove them with your hand.

I have the GDP vent kit. I have not installed it yet (waiting on warm day and when I have the tank less than full), but I have reviewed the kit very closely with the precision common sense eye and I feel this kit is done very well. Every component is top quality.



Dropping the fuel tank is not hard at all. I know this cuz I dropped the fuel tank on a shop employee's vehicle with a racheting boxed end wrench (i believe 15 if memory serves me), a fuel line disconnect tool from advance autoparts, a screwdirver, and a pick to assist with disconnecting fuel lines. I did it all in the gravel parking lot of the shop with no jack and no extra hand. The fuel tank had about 8 gallons of gas and diesel mix (she made a mistake at the fuel station). dropping the tank took 15 minutes. i reccomend you be able to tolerate uncomfortable positions and being able to squeeze into akward positions if you dont want to use a jack or take off tire. This was on a 2004. 5 dodge quad cab short bed SRW. I know on my truck it is much easier since it is a long bed DRW and you simply crawl into the big fender. DONT FORGET before you start the project to buy huge Channel locks or you can be very careful with a chisel type punch (which I used)

Add another for InnerTruck. I installed his vent kit about a year ago and it was really nice on the cross country trip I just got done with. I estimate I got an extra 30-40 miles per tank from the added fuel capacity wich can reall y save your butt when going across the desolate south west

I installed Spooled Up's vent about two years ago. It was very soon after dragging a trailer about 3000 miles and spending the extra five or more minutes getting five more gallons into the tank. Five gallons more means alot when traveling anywhere. Did it myself and when the "Low Fuel" light came on, I only had about four gallons left. Be careful when you run the tank low.

Next fuel mod will be Glacier's pump and line kit.

Count me it too. I'll be ordering one this week myself. First time I run the tank dowm low, I'll drop it and put the kit in. It's kind of funny, I never had this problem on my '98 CDT, but with the '06, it was apparent the first tankful on the way home from the dealer! #@$%!

Vent Kit

I ordered one of Spooled-Up's kits and installed it this morning. I did it by myself with out a floor jack and did it in just a little over an hour. There were about 2 gallons in it, and when I was done it took 30 gallons of diesel and 7 gallons of bio-diesel to fill it up. I had to wait a couple times for the foam to go down, but I did get it all the way full quickly. Thanks.
