I have been looking at the ads for replacement fuel tanks. Aero and Transfer Flow look to be about the same.

What experience been with either? What seems to be the best?

I have a Transfer Flow 60 gal. replacement. Works very well once you get used to the fuel gauge reading. Did have a little trouble installing, getting the vent line right. Has now been on for about 50,000 miles with no further problem. Use for towing a lot plus back roading.

Sure can go a long way in between stops. I went 1880 miles in between fuel stops not long ago. This was with a 225 mile trip with the trailer. I like the extra capacity.

I have the Aero 65gal. I had it put in last year while I was in California. I think that there quality ios not as good as Transferflow, but the price is much better and they were available.

Haven't had any problums with the tank. Don't even think about it much erxc ept when I fill. It has probubly paid for itself in convenience if not actual dollars. Haven't had to but California fule since IO had it installed.

Different companies offer replacement tanks of similar capacities. Transfer Flow uses the stock hanger system with stronger hanger straps. Another uses brackets that are bolted to the crossmember and the frame flange. You have to drill holes, and DC and other mfg. warn against drilling in frame flanges. I have seen first hand weld quality problems with some tanks, but never with Transfer Flow. I have two of their tanks (54 gallon replacement, and 98 gallon in-bed); both are beautifully designed, shaped, welded, and finished. Fit is excellent.

Last year I bought a 65 gal inbed type from Aero in Corona, Ca.

I found the sales staff to be exetremely rude. My wife also made the same comment. She was surprised anyone would buy from these people (maybe we just caught them on a bad day). I needed a tank pretty quick, and this one was in our sight, so we bought it.

Well, the tank was good quality, but I decided to do the install myself because they couldnt/wouldnt do the job for about 3 weeks and we needed to take a trip in 2.

I guess in the long run, the product was fine & I took my time & did a nice install. But personally, if I was going to get another, Id definitely consider Transferflow. Reports seem to agree that their customer service & quality are 1st rate.

I looked into Aero Tanks, but decided to have one custom made up. One thing I found out about Aero is that there base prices are cheaper then places like transfer flow, but didn't include all the extras needed for installing. The base price of their tank went up a lot after adding the extras up!!

Thanks for the input.

Joe, saw your article in TDR. Not something I'm willing to tackle anymore.

I'm wondering if Arrow moved to Corona from Anaheim/Placenta area. I had a tank put in there in 87 and they were rude, not cooperative and reinstalled my trailer hitch with stove bolts. Couldn't even use the grade 8 and shims that came with it. I was lucky I checked it out before trying to tow. Guess I'll go with TransferFlow.
