Horrible to see that people do this, I've never even heard of it happening. Is this happening out in the country where your truck could be parked in remote areas or at places like boat ramps etc... . or in the city? Leave it to cheapo Dodge to not have a locking fuel door like most modern cars. Lock the car, the fuel door locks too. They'd rather CHARGE for a locking fuel cap:rolleyes:

I have heard of thieves punching a hole in the tank and draining it out that way. Faster than a hose and alot more expensive to fix.

During the oil embargo this was a common practice. That was in 1979 (?). Actually this was mainly done to vehicles with the locking caps. I suppose it would just depend on what kind of fuel was needed. Bottom line is if someone wants to steal your fuel they can get at it.

Do these thieves have diesel vehicles? I've never heard of this happening to anyone.

After the first time I got hit, I figured it would be the last, but I got hit again after about a week. They either did not notice the mix, or yes, they have a diesel, or know someone who is willing to pay or trade for it.

Found out it was the neighbors (renters) and they have since moved on. I have been hit two more times since they left, so it may be friends of theirs that are still around, or a new batch. We have a problem with illegal nationals (the south o' the border flavor), and on a daily basis see at least one walking down a street within a 3 square mile radius of my house with a five gallon fuel can or two. Must be the current trend. They took all the low end and labor jobs, and now they steal from anyone with no fear. Hence the sticker on page one or two.

Thanks Mayor Webb for encouraging the illegals to flock hear and get their State accepted ID (long story - Mexican issued ID will be an acceptable form of ID for driving, benefits, employment and so on) from the Mexican Consulate. No green card needed, or any other "permission" to be here.   REALLY F#@&ING

Sticks, sorry to hear it. Around here, the ppl are so old, they could steal your fuel and you could catch them with a brisk stroll an hour later!;) Thats lame. Sounds like you really need the locking cap. You should at least type a message and tape it inside your fuel filler door, like 'HEY THIEF, YOU LOVE DI*K!" LOL, at least it will annoy them, and you will laugh when you fill and see it:D

The sound of a 12 guage pump in action usually scares the pants off the thieves, and best of all the sound is international.

The entire reason we left New Mexico is because of the the state catered to illegals, your mayor has no idea what he's in for.

The problem with that is, I could then be arrested for felony menacing, brandishing a deadly weapon with intent, some degree of assault, and a number of other annoying charges. All this because that a$$ violated my rights, thereby taking them away from me, and if I in turn retaliate, he now has all my rights, plus a few bonus rights the justice system gave him as a criminal, and I will get in even more trouble because I violated his rights. His charges would get dismissed because he became the victim, and I would get burned at the stake.

Hell, even a citizens arrest will get turned into kidnapping, unlawful detention, and assault, if I grab him, and stand on his neck until the police get here.

That didn't come out quite right I meant just the action of actually pumping a round in (unloaded of course). It used to cure them of wanting anything of yours. But, you're right the laws favor the criminals.

I know what you meant Tom. Just the intimidation attempt is the felony menacing, unloaded or not (for the record, they are all loaded). Then who are the cops gonna believe? The poor innocent doe eyed Mexican seemingly minding his own business, or the spooky looking biker that happens to have a Mossberg 500 Bull Pup?

Oops, I forgot a major charge... Hate crime, race would become an issue.

If I knew it would not hurt anything, I would wire the truck to an electric fence generator. Pain reinforced discipline. They cant touch my truck long enough to commit the crime and take my rights. The theory worked for Farmer Dale to keep the new dog form peeing on his tires.

I don't know about the US, but here you're not allowed to set booby traps. Too bad 'cause there would be some rude awakenings.

When I was a kid someone did something similar to his cabin in Iowa to keep kids from breaking in and trashing it. Some kids were hurt and he was sued, I forget what the charges were, I think one was reckless endangerment, anyway he darn near lost his farm 'cause of it and jail time on top of that.

You guys should feel lucky to live where you do. A farmer in England - Tony Martin had been burgled 11 times. The last occasion he shot and killed the s. o. b. - a 16 year old gypsy kid.

To cut a long story short he got sentenced to 30 years in the slammer. On appeal it was reduced to 5 years (I think). When he applied for early release, good behavour and all that, he got turned down. The parole board considered him to be "A danger to burglers"!! Go figure. A man's home is no longer his castle.

Go buy a cheap 5 gallon jerry can at a garage sale. Fill 4 gallons full of diesel, the dump one gallon of water, plus a boat load of metal filings and about 2 pounds of sugar in it.

Leave the jerry can outside of your house making sure the wife and all your pals know to leave it alone. Problem will solve itself, end of story. :D WHO, ME? No, I've never done that... .....
