I was just wondering how many of our transfer pumps have to go bad before dodge or cummins will fix the problem. I deal with two dealer ships. Ruges is one and village dodge is the other. They both have said to me when the pump goes bad on my truck, 2001 quad cab with alot of extras. bring it in and they would fix it for no cost to me. Thats great if i am in town, but what do i do when I am half way to lake george with my 25 foot coachmen in tow and family. Does anybody know how I go about getting a spare from cummins so I can keep it under the seat. I plan on doing alot of towing this summer.
Peter, go to this site http://www.cummins.com/na/pages/en/ and click on the service locater. Type in your City/State and find the closest Cummins shop. Ask them for the latest and greatest edition of the Carter pump for your truck and buy same. If you add a fuel pressure gauge chances are that you will not get stuck, these pumps don't just die, they go out slow and you will see erratic/low psi readings on your gauge that will give you a heads up that the pump is dying.
