Attention: TDR Forum Junkies
To the point: Click this link and check out the Front Page News story(ies) where we are tracking the introduction of the 2025 Ram HD trucks.

Thanks, TDR Staff

Allison Trans conversion?

Who all sells intercooler boot kits?

I want to start keeping track of my milieage and fuel use. What is everybody using and has anyone considered making soemthing that will work with a Palm PDA? That would be much easier for me to use, as I have my Palm with me every day.

I just keep a little note book in the truck and then transfer the info to Excel on my computer. I bought my truck in January of 2002 and was paying 1. 229 for fuel, alot different from last night at 2. 799

I used to use a freeware Palm app called Gas Log but the data entry just took too long and reverted back to a small book.

I have a program called Car Care, works on the computer. Whenever I get fuel, I write the miles on the receipt and when I get a chance I put it on the computer. It keeps track of when you did oil changes, etc as well. I think it was like $35.

Excel

I have a log book in the truck.

I have an Excel spreadsheet that I use from my PDA (Dell Axim x5) and transfer to my PC.

I use a PDA/PC program called Personal Vehicle Manager.

Obsessive huh?

I don't much like the Personal Vehicle Mgr program, however, I have 5 vehicles in it, whereas the Excel spreadsheet is for the truck only, and hard copy log book is in each vehicle.

I like the spreadsheet best because it's exactly what I want it to be. I have formulas to forward the current mileage to the next row's prior mileage, calculate miles between fillups, MPG per fillup, lifetime MPG, lifetime gallons, and entries for $/gallon and total cost.

Don't forget to back it up!

Neil

All you got's a Hemi?

Thanks for all the replies I have "Documents To Go" on my Palm and spent about 42 seconds making a very simple Excel spreadsheet to transfer between my Palm and my desktiop.

It shows, cost, gallon, MPG and cost/ mile. When I get more time I'll make one to transfer the milliage between lines and do all the calulations for me.

Thanks again for the help.

Michael

I use Excel on the PDA as well. I have a sheet for miles since I use the truck for work and then another sheet that I log fuel on. Nothing intensive. Just everything I need, nothing I don't.

I use a small log book I made myself with a word processor. That stays in the truck. On my PDA I have a program called "HanDBase", which is a database program. I've created a fuel log database within that to track fuel and perform all my calculations. The data in my signature is from that database, for example.

Here's a scan of my paper fuel log I keep in the truck. It's meant to also serve as a sort of checklist (so I remember to check the oil at every fuel stop). Anyone that wants a copy of this is welcomed to it, but it's in WordPerfect format (I loathe MS Word).

I've used the same little 3"x5" yellow note pad since I bought the truck 5 years ago. Very low tech. I did buy a calculator just to keep in the truck.
