Newest Smarty program

Well, I want to get rid of the EZ and add an on-the-fly adjustable fueling box. I had a Drag Comp before and it was fine (435hp/1008torque), but I’d like to use a non-timing box that allows me to run my Smarty on level 1 (timing for mileage and smooth cruise control) and light up the fuel when I ‘need’ to. 70 mile freeway commute necessitates smooth cruise! The EZ/Smarty combo makes good all around power, but I can’t plug it in when the Chevy or Ford pulls up next to me!

I am looking at the TST PM3 and Blue Chip FMS right now. I have been a fan of Blue Chip for years, but for half the price the TST looks mighty fine! What are the pros and cons of either of these? Anyone have a history with both?

my vote

in 2 1/2 years never a problem with my TST PM3. cannot comment on other boxes. for mpg best I like SW1 TQ4 timing 4 and duration 2 and TST was on 3 this gave me just shy and over 20 mpg on freeway driving 65-68mph according to the GPS. another thing get a GPS if you dont have one so you can fine tune with your smarty for tire diameter. since its not accurate. but this will get you atleast the diameter number you need to put in and help get a more accurate mpg and miles driven. every truck is different and every foot is different also. good luck with your choice.

yeah, i use a GPS to calibrate the speedo. the problem i found is that the speedo is not consistent at 25mph and 65mph, so i correct it for 60-65mph. it's only a couple mph off at lower speeds, but most of my commute (and mpg checking) is freeway speeds.

the other problem with mpg checks is the crappy consistency of filling the stock fuel tank. i have been running longer between fills to minimize the effect, but it is still inaccurate. I can get ~18mpg freeway @ 65mph. I stopped my recent mpg search so I can focus on drivability first. Cruise control is a must for me on the freeway, so I have found Smarty 0 or 1 gives the least surging. The EZ is OK for moderate power, but I can't run it on any level without pretty nasty CC surging on acceleration. So, I'm wishing I hadn't sold my drag Comp a couple years ago, but this gives me the opportunity to get a non-timing fueling box! It's only money...

Thanks for the feedback.

If you have the smarty set on "Fuel saver" and then crank up the FMS,I don`t hink that you will get all the fuel you are asking for. One input against another. will the FMS,overide the smarty?

i have been down this raod before and in my own opion the best thing i have ever done is a tst pm 3 set on 9 and stacked a superchip programmer . doing 80 - 90 mph goiung tampa fl i was pulling in 58- 69 mpg. i drove a tolta of 2568 miles on that trip.
