My cousin just bought a 2001 5-speed. He doesn't want a hot rod, just a little more fuel for the hills and the get up and go. He will be using it primarily for hauling cattle and horses. About 300-350 HP is what he wants. What does he need to acheive this?

You can always send him my way, Smoker, I'll have my shop open soon. An EZ Edge will get him about 40-60 extra HP, without having to worry about the clutch. Cheapest possible option for extra power. In my 2001, I ran a PowerEdge, the old version, similar to a PE Comp, for a year without needing a new clutch, it was advertised to add 120 HP. Once the DD3 injectors went in, my clutch was toast.

Gauges are a good idea, whether the truck is stock or not.

Gauges for sure

If he is looking for just of 300 an EZ and 275s gave me 303hp on my eth. It is a lot of performance for the money and both can be found used.

The comp and dd2s is more fun though.
