Now that I've learned that I'll only gain maybe an extra 20 HP or so by piggy backing the PE on the EZ, I have a new question. Looks like I'm heading towards a HX-40 to go along with the stage III injectors and EZ. Does anyone know which box is making the most HP on the ETH ? Is it the EZ ? I am doubting the EZ is tops. Would I get more power out of the HX-40 and injectors if I loose the EZ and add another box, such as the new TST Powermax, the JVD Torque Enhancer or the Blue box ? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way, the PE box is up for sale on the classifieds for $450. 00 if anyone's interested. Thanks in advance !!!

I am wondering the same thing about the ez hopefully marco will have his ecm's done shortly I am running the HX40 its a screamer check out the signature

Bigsaint, I have the DD 3's/boost module, HX 40, 4"exhaust, and K&N installed on my ETH and it dynoed at 349 HP/689 torque. I have tested a PE EZ set on level 3 and DD's new box made by PE to DD's specs on level 2. The PE EZ ran strong with the combo but smoked badly and would make the engine idle rough a couple of seconds after hard acceleration. On the other hand, the DD box ran strong, did not smoke near as much as the PE EZ, and idled smoothly. As a matter of fact, the DD box hardly added any additional smoke and then only at hard acceleration. With the DD box, boost ran up to 40 lbs. very quickly (NO TURBO LAG) and the egt's did not top 1100 under WOT. I easily slipped my clutch for the first time with the DD box added. I did not have it dynoed, but my seat of the pants meter feels like it was around 400 HP and a definate increase in torque. I might purchase one later on. It would be a waste of money to add a box with my stock clutch. I am happy with the trucks performance with the current mods, anything else is going to get pretty expensive (as in clutch replacement). Hope this helps.

Thanks Bill, it helps. I'm still wondering which fueling box puts out the most HP with the DD 3's and the HX-40/ 4" exhaust combo on the ETH.

Bart, check out DD's revised website www.dieseldynamics.com

You will see their new box has 3 settins:

1) Timing only
2) Timing + fuel beyond 20 psi
3) Timing + fuel beyond 2psi

Pretty cool.

Bill, were you BOMBed with the HX40 and injectors at the last NW BOMBer bash at Rob's (the one I missed #ad
)?

I believe there's probably not going to be much difference in what any fueling box can do, compared to any other box, for the ETH. One may have a slightly different feuling curve than an another and bring more fuel, or less fuel, on earlier, or keep it later, in the RPM band, but all are constrained to the maximum amount which the injection pump can produce.

The VP44 seams to be the liniting factor when it comes to fueling, and has to be modified to pump more fuel. It's probably a mechanical problem. To throw one more "screw driver into the gears", what's to say that if the pump has to be modified anyway, why not modify it so that a extra box can be eliminated?

Thanks again Bart, kinda what I figured.

I've studied this question myself and will share what I've learned.

I believe the DD box is not a fueling box but a timing box and, as I understand it, simply a recalibrated EZ.

I'm not sure that the modified ECM form Marco is going to help any box much and it appears it will be unnecessary to rum both the modified ECM and a box at the same time. In talking to Brett and Taylor of Edge, their boxes are catching the signal which the ECM sends to the injection pump and so they're able to do anything with the signals sent to the pump, that an ECM can do. Their boxes are able to change fuel curves and timing. This isn't to say that a modified ECM probably isn't the ultimate hopup because of other features it may control, but when it comes to the injection pump, Edge, for one, appears to be able to do anything an ECM can do. Edge's boxes use micro-processors which are programable to do what ever someone wants with fuel curves and timing.

My thoughts -- somebody set me on the right path if I'm wrong.
