whats the largest (power wise) fueling plate that a stock clutch can handle without toasting, tst show on their site a #8 can be used on a 175 horse manual, without needing clutch, i'm not getting any injectors or dv's, just timing/3kgsk,afc spring, i want to start bombing asap, before something else comes up. :D

IMHO, I would start with a #10 and go from there. You probably could run a #8 but towing EGTs might get too toasty compared to a milder #10 plate. :)

Stock Fuel Plate Adjustment

Is it safe to move the stock fuel plate all the way forward without risking any problems?

You should be Ok, but guages are always a must to be confidently safe with any fueling alteration. Plus with the stock plate profile I believe you may need a governor lever adjustment to make it work, but not sure about that, varies from pump to pump.

nope

I moved the stock plate forward, and it went up to 1300 in no time. I do a lot of towing with cattle trailers and I did the test empty. I would not move it at all if you don't have gauges... . Just my two cents. I moved the plate about 1/8 of an inch.

I have a #10, and as per TST's recommendations, the stock clutch won't hold it for long. mine no longer likes wot 5th gear.

Move the #10 plate back from stock about 45k and it will work fine. Clutch or automatic will live and you will notice a nice gain in power...

I did the 3k GSK,#10 plate and PDR HX35 turbo and ended up moving the plate back a total of 60k from stock position so that the stock clutch would hold. The truck pulls a 12k 5th wheel and has put nearly 10k on the combination and the stock clutch is still holding. . You can tune the #10 plate to what ever equipment you need to make last... .

#6 plate

I have a 95 5-speed with tst #6, 3k governer springs, timing @17 4" turbo back exhaust, afe progard 7 with stock turbo and clutch. I'm even grossing 13,260 combination with my trailer. I pull oversize loads (storage sheds) and know that I have easily been grossing over 20k and so far my stock clutch is holding. Oh yea and even my plate is forward a smidge! There is one hill that I pull that I gotta watch my pyro but other that that no problems.
