Due to overwelming demand I am attempting to complile some information on all the boxes out there. I decided the only fair way to do it would be to ask the vendors to provide the information. So here is what I did. I sent the following email out:

My name is John Rathert and I am a member of the Turbo Diesel Register (www.turbodieselregister.com). I am writing an informational article for the Turbo Diesel Register Web site on fueling and timing boxes. I am looking for basic information on these boxes. If possible please fill out the following form for each box you sell for the 24v Dodge Diesel pick up. I will compile the info from the form directly into my article and will not change any info. I am not trying sell any of your products to anyone, I am trying to provide the basic information on each box in one place. I will draw no conclusions about your products and I will not inject any opinion about your product. If you choose not to reply to this post i will simply put "no reply recieved" under your companies name. If you leave blanks in the form I will fill them in with "no response".

Once again let me stress that this is for general informational purposes only. I will be happy to send you a copy of the article for your review prior to posting it and will edit your information as you request. Thank you for your time and I look forward to hearing from your company.

The Form:

***************************

Box name:

Box type (fuel,timing or both):

Application of this box (what years will it work on):

HP and torque gain on stock truck:

Does box work as boost module to fool the map sensor:

Additional mods needed or recommended to run this box:

Warranty on the box:

Are you the maker of the box (Yes or No only):

If no who is the manufacturer:

If no, are you re labeling a product or does it contain different performance programing:

Your web site address:

The contact Email of your company:

Any disclaimer or additional information you would like to include:

***************************

If your company is just a reseller of someones product plese do not fill out the form for each box you sell. I am only really interested in boxes that you sell under a unique name. What I mean is don't send info on a box by X company if you are not X company. If you sell a repackaged box with a unique name fill out the form. If you have X company make a box for you, fill out the form.

Thanks again.

John D. Rathert Jr.

Vendor Responses

With Christmas upcoming (and no MAD ECM in sight) I think Santa will be called into action for a performance box. I look forward to the responses you get from vendors as I will be relying heavily on their input (or lack thereof) to make my decision.

John, thanks in advance for the effort involved in this. dp

'01 QC 4X4 ETH/DEE, bone stock (for now;) )!

Well I checked my email this am and I have three responses so far. They are from BD, Diesel Dynamics and Bluechip Diesel. I will give the rest a few days to reply and then send my review of the boxes to the vendors for there approval. I expect that by a couple of days after turkey day I should have the list ready to post. Check back for updates.

great timing

John-

Thanks for the legwork. Those of us on the fence about which box to buy can use all of the info we can get!

Nice work, John, I think a lot of us would like to see this get published in the TDR magazine too, not just on the website. The magazine is always looking for helpful tech stuff like this.

Briar,

I was thinking that this might turn into an article for the TDR eventually (assuming they would want it). I also think that it will take a ton of work to write an actual article. For now I think I will gather all the info and summarize it a bit and post it. Then I will start the daunting task of actually writing an article.

Does anyone see a company I missed. I know there has to be at least one that I missed. I remember seeing a couple of different companys that made boxes I just don't have names...

Bob

Looks like I made a typo in my origional post, I did submit the letter to both VanAken and Diablo Power on there websites via there web mail set ups. I have yet to get a reply from either of them. I guess we will have to wait and see. Thanks for the addresses though. The one for VanAken took me a while to find.

Got a response form Edge. Still waiting on a few compaines to send in there info. I will wait till after turkey day to compile it and see who get back to me.

Well guys just to make you suffer I will tell you that at least one company has a box that I did not know about and one other company has a new way of tapping the necessary wire on the VP44 that should be INVISIBLE. Maybe some of you know about these already. . but maybe not... ... . heheh.

You will have to wait till I get the info compiled... .

boxes

dang, i'm gettin tired of holdin my breath. all this time, i thought bated breath meant fish bait. guess they aren't spelled the same are they... ..... thanx again for doing the leg work, john... .

I'm waiting for the results with everyone else. You know, if I knew how to subscribe to a thread without posting I wouldn't be wasting all of your's time with this;) .

JR2,

OK, the wife is getting me a box for xmass. She's saying that she need to order it by next week(don't ask me why). So the day after turkey day is FRIDAY, don't make me come up there and do a Texas thing on your a$$, I'm a big man and I do have guns... ... . ;) :D ;)

Sorry, got a little carried away there but your last post is killing me! Thanks for doing all this work for us, you should be commended. Hats off to ya. Let us know ASAP, this is worst than torture man... .

Thanks again,

Glenn

now lets see how can I get the wife to alter her xmass shopping plans... ... . uhhhhh tough one:confused:

Well I too am a big man (300 lbs) with guns (ever see a 454 Casull)... bring it on. . just kidding.

My problem right now it that less than half of the vendors have replied. Now I don't expect a couple of them to reply at all, but I would have thought that one or two of the ones that have not would have jumped on this chance. I am going to work on this the day after turkey day and should get it done in one day I hope. I guess when I go to write it up if they have not replied it is there loss.
