I don't think diesals have evap. emmissions monitoring on the fuel tank,I refuel often with the engine running and have never seen the check engine lamp yet.
There is no need to shut off when fueling because the engine is compression ignition not spark ignition! Diesel has oil in it so vapors aren't nearly as volitile as gas vapour.
A properly maintained gasser shouldn't causes spark problems as well.
do it all the time , but im pretty sure its illegal here
got into a "heated" conversation with a local law enforcement person, after which i promptly turned off my vehicle for the remainder of the refueling session to avoid being escorted away...
SHAT,,,, I run her loud and proud when I fuel UP! I make a big production about it... If I have a cigarette, I will light that up as well! Cigar,,, even better!!! Take "R" easy... .
Legally you can fill with a diesel while running. But I always shut off my 24V while filling. Think of all those air bubbles getting sucked through your VP44 while filling.
I do it all the time I like to sit in the truck with the air or heat running while I fill up, but technically its a no no, I also like to remind myself and those around that I do infact have a cummins under the hood LOL
