I agree with Jeff and the mass majority of the TDR, the very most important thing you can do is to be able to observe/monitor what is happening with your truck - can't do that with out gauges. As far as the $68. 00 for the test gauge, it's a good thing to have if you don't plan on installing permanent gauges and don't mind hooking it up every so often to "see" what's going on. However, if you take the $68 and put it towards gauges to mount in the cab you're that much closer to being able to "see" what's going on as you roll down the road and catch things before they damage anything. There are many after market lift pumps available - if you are stock and aren't planning any bombs soon - don't throw your money towards a LP. Get the gauges, then let what you "see" be your guide/direct you to what you should do first.
By the way welcome to the TDR! See if you can get your signature included with your posts - we all like to know what each other are driving and it makes for less questions "what year etc. is your truck" when trying to help each other out.
