Fumoto Engine Oil Drain Plug 15% Off!

If I had my oil analyzed like Lightman, then that would be a big enough pro to outweigh the cons for me to get one of these. I gave it some thought a while back when I saw it in the Geno's Garage catalog. Just didn't make sense for me.



From a scrap of 1/4" hardware cloth I had laying around, I cut it to hang inside my 5 gal oil drain bucket to catch the drain plug. I just unscrew the plug and let it fall onto the screen thus solving the plug in the oil problem.

Who in the heck named it 'FUMOTO'... ... ???? The name alone makes me want to stay away. It needs a cool name... . definitely not fumoto. Fumato, fumoto, fumunda it sounds like cheese!!!!

2. is there a tube you can attach to the bottom of this thing?

If you got the one with the nipple on the end, you can attach a hose to it. They make 2 different kinds, one with nipple, one without.

I just ordered one after reading you post. I too am tired of hot oil running down my arm and then all over the floor! so this little life saver sound great.

Maybe you just got a bad one... ?



I've been using the Quick Change from Geno's since my second oil change and love it! Drains pretty fast, isn't any lower than the factory bolt, and the large tube is awesome for keeping it off your hands and the floor.



I was also worried about pranksters, but since you need the hose in order to actuate the plunger, that takes care of that!



And, yes, I will be drilling Big Bob holes in mine next change

I installed one on my 2005 and I checked the depth of the threads and you don't have to drill the holes in it to make it drain all the oil out. I put mine in while it was still dripping and turned it to open and it kept dripping for quite a while. Also it tells you in the instructions that you can put a 5/8 wire hose clamp around it so it won't get switched to the on position, you should be able to find them at any hardware or auto parts store.

The picture with the holes I had drilled was on my 99 CTD. I can't remember if I had to drill them on the 04 or not.



When you pull the drain plug out and after the oil has drained, take a flashlight and look at the threads of the pan. You can determine if you need to drill the holes or not.

Measured mine when I changed my oil because I was going to do the

Big Bob hole trick. Thread engagment did not warrant drilling on my 04. 5. It is flush with top of threads.
