I received my FUMOTO valve from Genos to replace the stock drain plug. I just wanted to know how many were using it and if they were holding up ok. IS the spring lasting?? I don't want to install it until I talk to a few of you who have been using them for a while . Thanks!Oo.

i been using them on all my rigs for quite some time now and have had "0" problems..... Very nice to be able to pull in the driveway and not wait for it to cool down... ... Just flip the valve and let the boilin oil drain..... just dont forget to close when done before adding the new stuff... . Only took one time for me too learn that one... :-laf :-laf

I have had one on my truck for around 50k now... my dad has had his on for around 100k. Neither have given any problem and make changing oil very easy.

Had one on the 94 for years... ... ... ..... it has outlasted the pan gasket and a long list of clutches

Two years on my truck with no problems and a few other vehicles in my family as well have them. Very good product and priced accordingly too.

Don't know much about the Fumoto drain valve so a quick question. I off road once-in-awhile deer hunting, couldn't the lever get caught on something (tangled grass, branch, etc. etc. ) and open up dumping the oil? Is there something to prevent this from happening?

"Plugs with nipple extend 1. 5 inches. Never remove it from the pan again. The stainless steel spring prevents any accidental opening. It requires two distinct actions to open it, and its heavy-duty construction will withstand engine vibration. "

Quote above is straight from the information listed with the drain plug from Geno's Garage.

.

Also not how that area is protected by the front diff from any direct hit. On a 2wd it might be an issue.

I've got my first oil change coming up and have been considering this product. Sounds like with the nipple version and a hose you can control the drain procedure and drain it hot. With the stock plug, it was slow or full bore.

Since you're draining through a 3/8" hole, it is controlled when you have the valve even wide open... but it sure is nice not having the mess...

Due to the reach of the treaded portion, you end up not draining all the oil out of the pan. When I had one on my wife's Subaru, I drained the oil, then later removed the valve and got almost 1/2 quart of oil out of the pan. My wife's car had Mobil 1 0w-30. The valve leaked with that weight oil, but not with 10w-30.

And finally, I think there are many large earthmoving equipment that use these valves. That is where I first saw them back in the '70's; on big, big diesel earthmovers. They must hold up well if they hold up to that environment.

I installed the fumoto, and the paper gasket cracked about two days later. I drained out 3 gallons and replaced with new oil. Oh well, I guess it needed a flush anyway. I now go buy soft copper ring gaskets.
